Our history

Established in the year 2000, Bataan 2020 took over the Samal, Bataan paper mill complex formerly operated by Bataan Pulp and Paper Mills Inc. (BPPMI) which was established in 1956 as one of the pioneers in the Philippine paper manufacturing industry.

Initially producing newsprint and printing and writing paper grades through its paper machine (PM1), Bataan 2020 had been quick to identify opportunities in the Philippine market to develop renewable packaging grades and add these to its product line.

In 2003, Bataan 2020 sucessfully revived the operations of an affiliate in Baesa Paper Resources, Inc. (formerly Mayleen Paper, Inc.) located in Baesa, Quezon City. Its versatile paper machine (PM3) has allowed Bataan 2020 to grow its capacity and further diversify its product line to include uncoated wood free paper under its printing and writing grades and paper bag for renewable packaging.

In 2006, Bataan 2020 acquired a tissue machine to form its tissue product line. This was followed by the set up of a tissue converting facility to support its existing clients through tolling production.

With the 20/20 vision that inspired its name, Bataan 2020 continues to move forward as its facilities include a sodium silicate production plant, a 12.5 MW biomass co-gen power plant and its latest addition of a second tissue machine to make it the largest tissue manufacturer in the Philippines.
